X.3398 - PETO & RADFORD BATTERY

We are shortly sending round revised standardisation sheet for the P & R BD.{Mr Berend}11 battery for the 40/50 car.
Now we have pointed out that the weight of the battery, including battery box, will be no greater than in the case of the Exide, though the battery is a little larger, we hope you will see your way to attaching your signature to this as an alternative to the present standard Exide BXRE5. I do not think you need have any hesitation about this this time, because I feel sure Mr. Royce is on the point of agreeing.

Previously R.{Sir Henry Royce} attached his signature to the sheet, but on account of your remark, CJ and BJ would not attach theirs, and referred the matter back to R for his opinion of your objection, and at which time he changed his mind and wrote to BJ and CJ accordingly so that we were never able to get their signatures.

Now the position is that CJ. and BJ. are prepared to be in agreement as soon as Mr. Royce has persuaded himself to agree.

PN.{Mr Northey} also has the matter in hand with R.{Sir Henry Royce} with a view to obtaining his sanction.

EFC.
