To B. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to Cd. [STAMP: RECEIVED 24 SEPT 1919] [STAMP: EFC.] ORIGINAL. (3) E1/G24/9/19. RE AIR PUMP ON DASH. X 2631 X 3457 It has been found on chassis 49 GB that at low speeds when the engine is accelerating under full load, the vibrations of the air pump spindle on the dash causes a considerable amount of noise. It is suggested that [strikethrough: possible trouble due to] this noise can be got rid of by making the feature on the air pump handle,(intended for keeping out the rain,) with a taper bore. The projection on the air pump cover should have a smaller taper to match the handle, so that when the air pump spindle is at the bottom of its stroke, no shake should occur - see sketch.
