HAND BRAKE LEVER RATCHET.

We had a complaint from Cricklewood recently that the ratchet on Ph.III was too coarse. There are practical difficulties in making a ratchet very fine.

Packard have brought out a hand brake with a wedge device for holding the brake on (see SCD.727) and we are testing this device on our Packard.

The working parts are hardened; but should wear take place the trigger release moves slightly further away from the hand grip.

The Packard lever is very pleasant to use and feels very solid. The lever remains wherever it is put. The silence of operation is appreciated after the very noisy B.III brake.

We send prints of SCD.727 to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}
