COMPLAINTS - PHANTOM 111.

(1). The fitting of weaker clutch springs have been satisfactory in three cases where the long plate fitted with thermoid linings which had become fierce and inclined to jagger.
This follows up the results obtained with 3.BT.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer}59 Mr. Haslam, which was dealt with at the Works.

(2). The complaint of the condition of crankcases when Heldite was used for the cylinder joint. We have been successful in removing the stains and producing a finish that is equal to production article.
This is obtained by the use of cellulose thinner and a fine steel scrubbing material. It takes approximately half an hour to do one crankcase.

(3). The oil leak from the rocker cover joint has been cured by the fitting of a new type of solid jointing. We are waiting for this to be standardised.
The leaks from the camshaft covers were machining defects which were corrected some time ago.

(4). Carburetters.
The sticking of the petrol drain ball valves has been cured by the process of anodic oxide treatment. We have interviewed Mr. Fisher of the Stromberg Co. and the arrangement of sending flooding carburetters to their works is being carried out.

(5). Brake cutting tools have been received by Cricklewood for Ph.111 and 25/30. Costs for relining should be considerably reduced.

25/30. HP.

Brakes.

The BZ. brake linings have so far proved satisfactory on cars that have been fitted with them.

Exhaust Suspension.

I am keeping in touch with the Experimental Dept. for developments.
