To Ry. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8402 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/ADL.12.32. PEREGRINE MATERIAL With reference to your Ry17/G30.11.32 we note that you have released the bottom half of the crankcase We would point out that the original bottom half cannot be considered satisfactory because it gave insufficient cooling to the oil as you will see from our tests in France, and the new one of larger capacity with ribs on has not yet been made. In any case we are not sure that it will overcome our troubles. With reference to the gear box, we presume that you have our sketches of the silent second so that you will see what is to be held up in connection with this. With regard to the brake gear on the back axle, we presume that you saw the sketch of C.W.H's failure in France where he bent the toggles. We think that we ought to bring these toggles up to the 25 HP. dimensions in view of this failure. Regarding the front axle, we have already mentioned the stiffer brake actuating shaft to you.
