.X.1195 - WILLARD BATTERY.

We have your note E6/G14.4.21.
We are sorry to have given you the impression that the cell sent down was taken from one of the old Willard batteries we have had over six years. By chance this cell was sent to you about at the same time as you might have expected an answer to the note contained in E6/G31.3.21 asking Mr. Hives to hunt up the old Willard batteries.
As a matter of fact these old Willard batteries are now entirely scrapped and gone. You may remember that we reported the result of dismantling the last one of these in EFC4/T13.11.20. Previous to this, plates from the first one had been sent to you for your examination.
The cell recently sent was taken from the Willard threaded rubber battery recently received from U.S.A. This battery was put on chassis 2 Ex on 24.11.20, but lately had to be removed from the car on account of a leaky cell, and as you had expressly desired to see a cell with threaded rubber separators, one from this battery was sent to you, as explained.
