Rear Wheel Brake Squeaks
"PHANTOM II".
Whilst we have succeeded greatly in regard to curing front wheel brake squeaks when and if we wish to, we are not at all clear as to the position in respect of providing some available means of curing brake-squeaks.
I believe that you were experimenting with the Hancock type of device for rear wheels also, but a much less costly proposition was made prior to the Hancock device merely by abandoning the segments by which the spiral spring around the drum rested, and by fitting instead a special channel in the drum itself to locate the spring.
We continue to have complaints in respect of rear brake squeaks, but nothing, as far as we know, has been done in respect of this proposal.
What is the position please ?
Have you made tests which have enabled you to decide one way or the other whether this simple modification may have a more desirable effect, if not will it not be desirable to get this point settled one way or the other as soon as possible.
We shall be glad of your remarks.
