Hancock - Head Chateauroux}19/N.8.9.37. Re: Bentley Pump RB.{R. Bowen}2005. I am forwarding a petrol pump G5.S.C. taken out of stock for Dixon's examination. This pump, direct from the S.U. Co. failed entirely on the o.s. and the n.s. was a minimum delivery. I dismantled the pump to find the cause, it being the latest we know of. The following features were noted:- (1) Wood shavings in valve chamber. (The pumps are still being sent out unprotected). (2) O.S. stroke set too short. (3) The armature is badly out of truth with the spindle. (4) Fibre washer on end of field lug, put on lop sided, making a foul of the armature. (5) Brass washers too small in dia. for locating armature on n.s. and o.s. After cleaning and re-erecting the output is below our standard minimum.
