YOURS: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 6/MJ. BATH. 8th September 1930. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Expl. Dept., Derby. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of Sept. 5th, and note the opinion you have formed of our Rotary Displacement pump from the test carried out. This pump was actually supplied for handling lubricating oil, and we were not aware that it was your chief desire to try it under a condition of unprimed suction lift. In the normal run of our work, we supply lubricating oil pumps for engine work of the highest class in marine and land service, and the ability to carry out a suction lift unprimed is one of the chief features, particularly with marine work. By comparison with the usual type of straight or helical-tooth gear pump, our design is generally acknowledged to be superior on the score of suction lift, and maintenance of volumetric efficiency under varying conditions of working pressure. We should like to have a further opportunity of supplying a pump for your test, and perhaps you will be kind enough to let us have the exact details of duty in which you are interested, so that we may look further into the matter. Yours faithfully, For STOTHERT & PITT LTD. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Standwick Manager Pump Dept. | ||
