Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}17/AP.6.4.37. We have found that with the rating of the springs doubled, joggles are in evidence on bad bumps on straight roads as well as corners, and the steering spoiled. It looks as if we must accept either the joggles on corners or a slightly spongy steering. The sponginess only worries us at high speeds on cambered and uneven surfaces. We do not think it would be complained of in England. We might try slightly stiffer springs with the movement reduced in proportion. Going to double the rating is too much. The present ratio of movement to rating seems good i.e. 0.230" and 2.600 lbs/ins. ---------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/IMW.{Ivan M.
