COPY. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. Ref: Development Supt. 10th. June, 1922. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Rd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, STRAIGHT SIDED RIMS. ----------- Your letter of the 30th. ult. addressed to our Broad St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Branch has been passed to me for attention. I have pleasure in enclosing herewith a Blue Print showing the device for locking Detachable Flanges, as used on Racing Cars. We have no intention of adopting this device for any other purpose than that of high speed racing, for there is no risk of the flange leaving the rim under normal conditions, and in fact even under racing conditions. The locking device is only looked upon as something to provide for very exceptional circumstances. We think that to provide this device for general use would not only be unnecessary, but would provide a complication that the user would not care to be troubled with. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD. (Sgd) W. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} PAULL. | ||
