CHASSIS 46-G-1. X.4228. X.4253. With reference to your memo. BJ9/H2.3.23 :- (1) Brake levers rattling. (2) Whistling carburetters. With regard to the first item, will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} please report as soon as possible and recommend what action should be taken to cure this trouble so that a settlement can be arrived at as to how this trouble is to be overcome. As soon as Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is able to do this, I can give you some idea of the cost of the alteration, both for attending to the cars still at the Works, and for attending to cars which have been delivered. With regard to the second item - the standard-isation sheet has been sent round for modification to overcome this trouble, but has not yet been approved. Pending the signing of the standardisation sheet, however, I am going into the question of cost and will let you know as soon as possible approximately how much it will cost to incorporate the modification in question on cars at the Works and on cars already delivered.
