COPY TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} SIDE WHEEL CARRIERS. 25 HP.

With the diamond engine mounting the side channel alone is too elastic to carry the side wheel carrier.

The stays which we sent to you and which we saw on 19.G.IV. appeared to be useless, as the stay was able to pull up the bottom edge of the frame. We would like you to make a test using these same stays but having the attachment to the side channel at the junction between the lower flange and the web.

For the 'T' and 'U' Series it seems that we shall have to revert to the horizontal stay from the dash to the top of the wheel carrier tube. We send herewith M.Sch.3322 shewing such a stay.

The design has been so made that it will be possible to fit a side wheel carrier after the car has been completed. The disadvantages of the stay are that bonnets four inches cannot be fitted and that the scuttle pillar is rather badly cut away, which must be well done or knocks will result.

We suggest that this same design of stay can be used on P.2.
