Attention of Mr. Salt.

Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
Experimental Dept.,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 3rd inst., dealing with the Lister enquiry for big end bushes, and the writer proposes visiting these people and settling the points at issue. We thank you very much for your suggestions in connection with this matter.

We also have to thank you for your letter of the 1st November concerning Ruston & Hornsby, and Panhard.

The writer proposes taking our Chemist, and also possibly our Foundry Manager, if he can be spared from the Works, to High Duty Alloys at Slough on Wednesday next, to settle any outstanding points before proceeding to Derby to visit your Works Thursday next. We propose spending Thursday and Friday there if necessary to really get down to this problem, and hope that the outcome will be straight forward running of this job in future.

Regarding the point raised in your letter of the 1st in connection with set-ups of trial bearings with new firms, the writer will deal with these, as far as we are concerned, until such time as we have trained someone to look after these points, and on the periodic visits which he makes to Derby to see your people concerning piston rings etc. an opportunity could always be made of discussing any points with you should we not be entirely clear as to the particular application of any bearings, which does not appear
