You will remember that at the recent Derby Conference, this matter was discussed and it was suggested it would be advisable for Rv. to come home and, if possible, for Sa. to accompany him. It is not, however, altogether easy for this to be arranged but we wrote immediately to Sa. on the subject (copy to Rv) as per the attached copy. We have received what we consider to be, a very interesting and probably useful reply from Rv. on the subject, copy of which is attached. We feel that in view of certain facts, his suggestions require immediate consideration. The facts we have in mind, are :- 1) We appear to have to change the springs of quite a large percentage of Cars which go to Spain. 2) Our present standard of English springing, appears to be giving complete satisfaction according to the reports on changes made by Rv. Possibly a small increase of friction damping by additional shock absorbers is desirable. 3) So far as can be ascertained from Rv. no troubles in regard to spring breakages have ever occurred with back springs and you will see he says that the R.R. suspension was always considered perfect until the 20% was added. 4) It would appear that the Spanish roads are not materially worse than the French and in most respects, the conditions are about equal. In view of the above, we feel that Cars for Spain should, from now onwards, be sprung identically with those sprung for France. We would like to suggest that this whole question, in the light of the above, be considered by the Technical Committee and if any objections are seen to the proposal being put into effect, we should be obliged if you would let us have particulars of them.
