CHANGE SPEED KNOB FOR THE BENTLEY. When you issue details of the change speed knob for the Bentley, we should like you to consider the scheme to Ex.8727, which ran 10,000 miles. This appears to us to be very simple to manufacture, and has no definite fault such as the knob becoming unscrewed, etc. The spring we found satisfactory to give a reasonably light load to depress the knob, without there being the danger of getting into reverse accidentally, is made to the following details - The knobs we have so far made have been in steel, but we are making one in bakelite.
