GRY{Shadwell Grylls} MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}1/HP.12.8.36. D.W.S. Jacks on Phantom III. In connection with investigations to find the cause of the jack failure on chassis 3-AZ-44 (Lloyd George) in which a jack failed completely and let the car down on to the ground suddenly, it would be helpful if it could be ascertained:- (1) The actual date on which the failure occurred. (2) Was the chassis at this date fitted with the 3/4" bore port type pump. (3) Was the jack returned to the works in exactly the condition in which it was removed from the chassis after the failure, or had some attempt at investigation been made on it at the coachbuilders. We ask this because the jack was in a partly dismantled state which may have been due to one of the extensions being forced out of its tube when the failure occurred, or it may have been done by someone attempting to dismantle the jack to investigate the failure. Do you think this information could be obtained please?. E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} | ||
