Dear Sirs, With reference to your cylinder liner advertisement in the January "Automobile Engineer". We are trying to find a suitable Austenitic steel to use as a brake drum liner, and would be much obliged if you could supply us with any of the following data concerning your Nickel-Copper-Chromium alloy. Brinell Figure - as cast or forged. Brinell Figure - work hardened. Specific heat. Specific conductivity. Co-efficient of Thermal Expansion. In addition, an etched and an unetched photomicrograph would be of assistance to us (explaining what etching process you use) or if you have not these pictures, if you would care to supply us with four samples 1/2" square we could make our own.
