Front axle and water pump failures on a 2-cylinder car, with a follow-up remark from Mr. Royce.

RE 2-Cylinder Front Axles. X714 J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Smls/E2713. Mr.Paterson in his report upon his visit to Mr. P.H.Dugdale - car No. 20159, says - "During the time he has had it, two serious things have happened; one the breaking of the near side steering pivot, and the other, one of the water pump gear wheels became detached from the driving spindle." A copy of the report containing the above remarks was sent to Mr. Royce. Mr. Royce remarked :- "This is one of the original 2-cylinder cars, and I think the stub axle will be the breaking point; rather different to steering trouble. I suggest we investigate what can be done to these, and how many are out. After that we could see the cost." We find 19 of these cars were made. 5 - have already been altered, leaving - 14 Out of these many have changed hands and have been considerably altered by other people; so for the repair dept. report. It is thought that as some of these cars have been to the works, it is practically certain that we should find a number of points requiring attention, and as most of | ||
