X. 7060 E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} R6/M2.3.29. 'SS{S. Smith}' VALVE GEAR. I agree to testing out your suggestions of lubricating the valve gear by continuous hole from rocker shaft to square tappet head. At the same time the valve gear on 18-EX is the quietest we have ever had, and holds its adjustment unexpectedly well, so there is little need of anything further if it is costly, or may leak away more oil than we can spare, but I think we should try the scheme which seems fairly easily possible.
