The Weston Electrical Instrument Co., have agreed to modify all ammeters which have not yet left our hands, amounting to a total of 499. They do not, however, agree to undertake any work free of charge on the 1,615 chassis which we have sold to customers in the past 12 months. Their view is that they cannot accept any responsibility, but they are quite willing to repair any ammeter which might fail, free of charge in accordance with their guarantee. As the total number of recent failures in customers' hands, now stands at 5, we left the matter as follows :- They are agreeable to examining ammeters in question providing some financial help is forthcoming from us. In the meantime, they will give further consideration to the matter, and should the failures continue to appear to such a degree that we think it is absolutely necessary to take retrospective action, they will be in a position to give us some idea of the cost of this action. We are issuing the necessary instructions for the stocks to be modified, and Depots will quickly be supplied with modified instruments to use as replacements if required. BY [SIGNATURE] | ||
