PRODUCTION CHASSIS. Further to BY/Cgh.{W Clough}20/G.23.9.35, the Administration have now decided that these chassis are to be completed at an early date, therefore it is necessary for us to complete our instructions to the Order Office and Works immediately. These chassis are to be up to date as far as it is possible to make them at the present time. We have discussed the matter with the Experimental Department and give below a list of features which they consider should be incorporated in these chassis, together with information to release all outstanding items :- (1) The crankcase should be of the modified type to suit the larger slipper flywheel. We understand this has already been instructed. (2) Cylinder head suitable for exhaust valves with larger diameter stems, and the exhaust valves to be stellite faced. The Design Dept. are to give us a scheme for this. (3) The carburetter should be instructed with the reversed throttle scheme, counter-weighted float, and float chamber balance to air silencer. (4) The present standard positions of oil and water fillers should be instructed. (5) Road wheels with the spokes secured to the centre portion of the rim in order to obtain greater inclination of the outer spokes for strength. | ||
