To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} (Handwritten) X7420 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}2/LG30.11.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' AXLE CONTROL ARM. (Handwritten) X7420 X7425 We have now fitted up the axle control arm as on N.sch.2663. We think the scheme is a great improvement, the only difficulty being the lubrication of the ball. We feel that if the lubricant cannot be fed into the centre of the pads owing to the fact that they are moveable, it should at least be introduced on top of the ball. As the angular movement of the ball is so small, we doubt whether the oil will reach the pad centres even with the present arrangement. We should not mention this before we have experimental results, only we have run into trouble on the cross steering tube ball end and have had to improve the lubrication scheme there. Have you any particular reason for making the load as high as 600 lbs. on these ball ends? Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
