47420 47260 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} We observe that on the SS.{S. Smith} as at present arranged the bonnet strips obscure one of the valve caps on the axle control damper. This means that a box spanner cannot be got on this item, and therefore that the adjustment of the shock absorbers for which we have been aggitating for so long, becomes very difficult. We recommend that the bonnet strips should be cut away at this point to allow a box spanner to be used on this valve cap. We do not see any difficulty in the procedure.
