20, Sudbrooke Road, London, S.W.12. 30th April, 1934. Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd. Derby. For the attention of Mr W.A.Robotham. Ref: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/EW. Dear Sirs, Mr Walker of the City and Guilds (Engineering) College has shown me your letter of the 24th April with reference to a post in your Experimental Department. I have a certain knowledge of Automobiles, both practical and theoretical, though I have no experience of the production side. I have driven cars of many types for the last ten years, and at the age of 21 I spent a long College vacation working in a garage on motor repairs, since when I have taken the greatest interest in motor development. As I have also some knowledge of Thermodynamics, and several years' experience in the methods of practical research, it is possible that it might take me less than three years to "pull my weight" if your firm offered me a post. I should be glad, therefore, to call and see you on any day which will be convenient to you. I am, Dear Sirs, Very truly yours, H.D. Mansion. M.Sc.(Eng), A.C.G.I., D.I.C. | ||
