To Sr/VA. X1245 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KW.21.3.36. Replying to Sr.1/VA.1/ET.18.3.36, if the intermediate bearings on a Bentley unit are O.K., it is almost certain that the other bearings are in satisfactory condition, and we do not think it is necessary to remove the caps of the front, centre and main bearings. With regard to the Hall's metal main bearings, we are at present running two experimental cars 15,000 miles tests with these bearings, and we want to complete these runs before we start fitting them to customers' cars as they are not yet officially standardised.
