Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

For the Attention of Mr. Whyman.

Dear Sirs,

We are dispatching to you tonight a 7 1/2" Silencer which is similar to the one you have already approved, except that the chamber which you found was unnecessary has now been incorporated in the main volume.

This particular Silencer is not sent to you to examine from a finish point of view as unfortunately we had not the correct paint available. Incidentally, the elbow is one of the original experimental ones which is spotwelded in a very ugly fashion. We shall now be able to make you another Silencer with a production type elbow, and we will submit you another sample for complete production finish approval.

We trust you will be able to excuse the appearance of this particular one, which we are merely asking you to test from a performance point of view.

We are sending you six designs of hiss gap, which we would be glad if you would check to see which gives you the greatest freedom from the hissing noise complained of.

We are,

Yours faithfully,
THE AC-SPHINX SPARKING PLUG CO. LTD.,
