[Handwritten Note] GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Please carry out these instructions + return this note HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [Typed Text] BODY SUBFRAMES - 40/50. We note that the forward body subframe bolts on 8-EX. have broken after 2000 miles, and that the temporary ones have now broken. As pointed out previously we can only think that the cause of the breakage is chafing, and we would like to prove this by examining the fractured bolts. We would be glad if you could arrange for your people in France to drill out the spigot fit between the bolt and the bracket on the frame, as shewn in the sketch below, so as to prevent any chafing or serious bending of the bolt. This should also be done by our men if possible when they are testing 7-EX. in London.
