In reply to your communication of the 6th instant, we are pleased to learn you have a spare T-Slot Piston, and that this is being dispatched to us. Actually it has not come to hand yet, nor are we in receipt of any advice, so we hope that it has not gone astray. Your instructions with regard to breaking through the saw-cut on the others were received too late, as no doubt you will have assumed since the operation was not carried out. With regard to the 14 experimental pistons with modified crowns, we find we have an earlier wooden core-box which could be altered satisfactorily, and also a new base could be made for the existing die. This part of the work would cost £2.0.0d. It would be uneconomical to make a profile milling fixture for 14 pistons, so that it would appear to be cheapest to mark out each piston and mill to the marking. This would cost approximately 4/9d per piston. | ||
