Yr.Ref: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}6/MA. Messrs.Rolls-Royce,Ltd., Derby. [Handwritten]: HP For the attention of H.J.Lidsey.Esq., Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 9th.inst. in connection with D.W.S.Permanent Jacks. Your remarks with regard to our Jacks are very disturbing indeed and the failure of the Jacks to lift the car from a flat tyre seems almost incredible as we have encountered no difficulty in this respect on earlier fittings. However, there is no doubt that there is something very wrong and we shall be in Derby in a day or so to ascertain the trouble. In the meantime we shall conduct a special test on an identical chassis here in London and we hope to ascertain exactly the cause of this failure and to over come it before visiting your works. With reference to the six to one handle which was left for use with the two Jacks fitted to the front axle of a Rolls-Royce car, this obviously is a too high a gear but was only intended to be used if found more convenient. We note your other remarks in connection with reversing the control shaft on the front fitting. We shall write you in more detail after our tests here and will let you know when we can reach Derby. Yours faithfully, For DONALD SESSIONS & COMPANY LIMITED, [Signature: Donald W. Sessions] Managing Director. DS/JFMc. | ||
