Messrs. Howard Graham Ltd. -2- 21st. June, 1939. As regards the roll rod rubber - (1) Motion, Chiefly rotation, some twist. (2) Static load nil, max. load 800 lbs., never reached in practice. About 200 lbs. is a common figure. (3) Angle of motion, 34°. (4) Pin and Eye dimensions not fixed. (5) Axial twist, small. (6) No resistance figures imposed. (7) No deflection limitation. As the present rubbers stand up quite well, what we want is a Harris bush which gives a joint about the same size as now but which will have a better life because of superior design. We are not quite sure how to design for your bushes, as we have never used them, perhaps, therefore, you could send sketches of suitable schemes marking on them the correct bush sizes. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
