-2- Cylinders -continued. Valves guides EB.1782 - slightly worn in the bore for measurements see EX.I.69. Valve seats slightly worn, this together with wear on valves accounts for maximum pocketting of .012" otherwise general condition good. ------------------------ Valves and Fittings. Exhaust valves Nos.2.3 & 6 in KE.965 Nos.7.10.8.11. in S/SLV. All exhaust valves have stellite seats and tips. All exhaust valves subject to lead attack, the KE.965 valves being decidedly worse than the S/SLV. All valves worn on seats. No.2. exhaust cracked on tip - probably done on dismantling. ------------------------ Pistons - Aerolite. General condition good - see charts for measurements of pistons, ring grooves and rings. ------------------------ Connecting Rods EB.2815-6 General condition good. Magnetic tested for cracks and found O.K. Conn. rod bearings EB.2810, for measurements see EX.I.67. These bearings have hammered and worn on the backs. Suggest that for future records, measurements be taken similar to those suggested for main bearings i.e. - Crankpins on two diameters. Bore of big end bearings on two diameters. Bore in Conn. rods on two diameters. Sectional thickness of bushes in three places. ------------------------ Crankshaft EB.2487 in V.C.K. Test No.4516. H.149. Scored and worn on journals, for measurements see Ex.I.67. also worn on pins. Crankshaft Balance The crankshaft was removed from engine complete with flywheel and clutch for investigation into the cause of out-of-balance. Balance weights fitted by testers in France i.e. continued. | ||
