Petrol Filler on Side of Body.

On LeC 4859 herewith we show the Phantom III filler head fitted to a standard Park Ward Saloon Bentley. This scheme is similar to one already sent to you for the Bentley, LeC 4520, and its modification, LeC 4725. This latter design has been criticised by the coachbuilders when submitted to them, on the grounds of its lack of universal application. We therefore wish to supersede it with the design herewith LeC 4859 so as to bring the parts in line with Phantom III. The same parts will also be used for the filler on Wraith II.

As Sales are pressing for an outside filler on the Bentley as standard we suggest that we should make an early test of this final design.

The parts to LeC 4725 have been made some while ago for fitting to the next experimental car 6 B 4, which has been held up for other reasons. This design is now out of date due to the time element and coachbuilders' criticisms, and we wish that the design LeC 4859 be fitted to this car. This entails a new filler head and a modification to the snout on the tank.

An advance print is attached to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}'s copy of this memo.

This is very urgent as it is desired by Sales to have an outside filler as standard as soon as possible.
