-2- there must however be a very big load on the axles. brakes. CLUTCH When the gearbox was dismantled, this was seen from the rear of the clutch, and there was no sign of oil on the front end. a shaft which was perfectly dry and with it a little dust. a shaft which lies from the front end to the gearbox. CYLINDER HEAD From the amount of carbon on the valves it would be estimated that they had seen about ten miles's use. It is undisturbed so that they can be judged for service when the rest of the unit is re-assembled. The joint valves had a vacuum test, and from them we have received a satisfactory report. PISTONS The front end of the gudgeon pin had seized, but the appearance in it is apparently quite normal. The rear end of the gudgeon pin had scored the piston boss forward of the slot extent. The sides of the rear were hard up against the circlips, otherwise the gudgeon was free in the piston. The metal at the base of the gudgeon bush is cracked, and the fault is at the back of the bush and shows through. GENERAL The heads of the bolts are not of sufficient area and place a local strain on the frame. To overcome this, we put an extra stiff plate on the outside expense, and the board to solve the problem.
