X4383 GOSHAWK 11. GENERATOR.
We despatched to you yesterday per passenger train the R-R Generator fitted with the built-up mica commutator.
This generator has not the latest end cover at the commutator end but it has the narrow third brush and latest brush holders.
The Foreman in charge of the Armature winding(Mr. Gamble) has made an alteration to the winding of the armature which results in a definite saving in length - approximately .375 at each end. The same gauge of wire is used - the length of wire in a complete coil is reduced by approx: 6" with the modification. They claim that it is also easier to produce.
EFC. tested the dynamo before it was sent away and the performance was satisfactory - (He is away today).
We consider the modification to the winding of the armature an improvement.
Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
