To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce}

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}5/JH.18.4.36.

In our memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}19/KW.7.4.36. we requested you to pass an order to the Light Production Co. Ltd., for :-

3 sets of pistons having heat break sawcut in scraper ring groove, but retaining normal skirt clearances i.e. dia. at top of skirt 3.247, and at bottom of skirt 3.2475, and with extra strength in the crown if necessary, weight may be increased from 18 1/2 ozs. to 20 ozs. to allow for extra material in the crown. Pistons to be fitted with rings .003 oversize.

We should like you to note that the skirt dimensions should have been 3.497 at the top and 3.4975 at the bottom, as the pistons are intended for 3 1/2 bores. The Light Production Co.Ltd. has been informed about the mistake, and have altered the order accordingly.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/R.Matthews.
