18.S.IV.

We have received a memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/.Id.8/LV.27.8.31 re. 18.S.IV. with reference to the shock dampers which we have reported had holes in the L.S. valves. On close examination of the remark that these holes had been soldered up, we examined the holes very carefully under a magnifying glass, and there was no indication whatever, of any solder having been in the holes. It also does not explain why in the C.S. front damper there were no holes in the valves, nor had any been drilled.

re. Front Springs. We note that a pair of springs are to be sent out of cheaper production for us to try. These will be fitted when they arrive. With regard to the C.S. front spring, we do not anticipate that the top leaf will fail due to the accident, as very little damage was caused, and there was no sign of any fracture.
