G.W. Hancock Esq., Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. From Ha/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} From He/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} Ha/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}S/MJ.27.8.31. 19-04. With reference to your memo of the 24th.inst. in which you state that you found three of the shock dampers had drilled HP. valves, we have made enquiries to ascertain the reason for this and find that all the dampers had the holes blocked up in the H.P. valves before they were fitted to the car on August 8th. This information appears very definite and we can only assume that the blocking up of the holes with solder cannot have been done very successfully and that the solder must have been forced out in service. We are sending out to you shortly a pair of low rating front springs. There is a possibility that the damaged top leaf of the O.S. front spring on 19-04 may fail. In the event of this happening we suggest that you replace it by one of the two we are sending out. These springs are special in that they have rolled eyes and a cheapened form of spring clip; they are altogether a cheaper spring to produce. In the event of your present O.S. spring not failing, we may ask you at a later date to replace both front springs with these rolled eye springs. Ha/A.J.Lidsey. | ||
