Dear Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer},

Many thanks for your letter of the 4th January. With reference to an exhaust system which will stand up to Ethyl gasoline without corroding, I have to-day written to the States asking if they will send me full details by return, because, personally, I have no knowledge of the treatment mentioned by Grylls.

I am wondering whether the calorized pipe would do the job, and in this connection I am enclosing a photostat copy of an article recently produced in the Oil and Gas Journal. Perhaps such pipes could be treated inside and, according to the enclosed article, if pipes with this treatment will stand up to Refinery Still tubes, they ought to stand up to attack by the exhaust products.

I will, however, advise you as soon as I receive an answer to my letter.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely,
F.R. Banks

P.S. What about trying this "metallization" process i.e., the treatment of the surfaces by spraying on aluminium? FRB
