Dear Sirs, Under separate cover, we have pleasure in stating, we are despatching to you a further sample of the new light-weight speedometer, in which the trip has been very carefully dealt with in regard to a safety device, so that, when setting to zero, a slip mechanism is incorporated, thereby preserving the trip from breakage, or strain. We have ourselves tested this instrument for over 1500 miles, and it has worked very satisfactorily. We have fitted the trip with a screen underneath the dial, so that the figures inside cannot be seen through the hand gap. We presume you will give this instrument all the testing you require. We would state that we are experimenting with one or two schemes of methods of giving good illumination to these dials, and we are also proceeding as quickly as possible regarding the instruments discussed with you recently by Mr. Dorer and Mr. Arrowsmith.
