EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn6/H1.2.8.24. 4. Contd. dealt with by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and some modification of the present bolt head is contemplated. In the meantime it has been agreed that existing bolt heads shall be chamfered off to give sufficient clearance. 5. Front Spring Gaiters & Rear Shackle Covers. These are considered by us to be a poor job. We have already taken the matter up with the D.O. and Order Office. We suggest that this should be put up to the Wefco people who should be given an opportunity of dealing specially with the Exhibition cars in this respect, and of course of improving their supplies both on present and future cars. Up to the present we have had to let nine cars go. These are at present in Paris. 6. Accelerator & Brake Pedal. These are noisy in coming up against the stops, and we feel sure this is a point which will be brought to our attention by customers. We suggest that some quieter "contact" material be used. 7. Oil Leaks from Gear Box. We have had considerable trouble with oil leaks from the gear box, also some difficulty in removing the gear box lid.{A. J. Lidsey} We are also still waiting for some level mark to be made on the oil depth gauge. 8. Noise from the Servo Gear. This is still objectionable when using the brakes lightly. We feel certain this will be a general complaint from customers and want to emphasise here the necessity of same receiving urgent attention. 9. Accelerator Pedal. We consider that too much effort is required to operate the accelerator pedal, and feel we are likely to receive adverse comments from customers in this respect. This memorandum has been compiled from rough notes left by EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} before leaving for his holiday, and in consultation with Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} If any further information is required on these matters, please consult with MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} who will give further details.
