With regard to the difficulty experienced in manufacture of the present type of whitemetal lined nut.
in obtaining an equal thickness of whitemetal each side of the steel core thread, Mr. Royce would like to know whether the difficulty would not be reduced by casting the whitemetal in the nut with a worm core the size of the worm thread in place, and then if necessary a tap having a taper piloting lead in to be run through.

Mr. Royce does not want to abandon the steel core in the thread of the nut, although if necessary the quantity of core might be reduced in order to provide a greater thickness of whitemetal.
