To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X.4272 E1/M9.5.22. GOSHAWK 11. UNDERSHIELD X.4272. We send you herewith drawing No.LeC.1567 shewing the following 4 points:- 1. Stronger attachment of side plates to frame. 2. Hole and mudguard for water drain. 3. Ribs to prevent drumming on undershield front plates, 4. Radiator over-flow guide. In connection with No.2., this drawing at the moment shews the original inlet elbow on the pump but you will recollect that we are probably having a larger elbow here. In connection with No.1., we shew a scheme of larger clamping washers for securing the aluminium plate. We understand you have already instructed these. This is the simplest scheme we could have but if it does not stand, we must use still larger washers in steel riveted to the aluminium. We also send drawing No.LeC.1562 shewing the water drain cock altered for extension. We leave it to you to decide whether it is cheaper to buy existing cocks and bore them out or have cocks made with cylindrical pattern boss for the pipe. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
