We note your remarks regarding Hyco and the possibility of obtaining it in this country. We are anxious to test a sample of this material, but meanwhile please be advised that we have tested a clutch lined with "Ferodo No.6" and find it to be in every way as satisfactory as Hyco so far as we can tell after a short period of running. We are returning to you a 1 3/4" plate (No.5) lined with moulded material which jaggered badly, and should like you to line it with some "Ferodo No.6" facings which we are also sending to you. You will observe that the fabrics have collapsed on to the centre plate and we should like your comments on the likelihood or not of this condition being responsible for the instigation of jagger. What precautions can we take to obviate this condition ?

With regard to your concluding paragraphs, we have raised the question of our meeting you in the matter of the 41 clutches with our Mr. Royce, and understand that he is agreeable that we should do so.

We should be glad to hear from you concerning the precautions you recommend we should try for reducing wear between the pressure plate lugs and the cover plate on the 10" and 11" clutches. Since discussing this matter with you last we have had a particularly bad example of this trouble on an 11" clutch which has run for about 80 hours at 4,000 r.p.m. on a test bed unit. There is now a clearance of .100" between one side of one of the lugs and its slot.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
