BENTLEY V DISTRIBUTOR TO SUIT
7 - 1 PISTONS.

Will you please proceed with a vernier knob adjustment on the new type R.R. distributor. Provision for the addition of a suction control at a later date without altering the design again would be advisable.

We suggest that we copy the range given by the Delco. This gives a movement of .400" on a 2" radius. There are six marked divisions on two scales. The lower is marked A and B and on the upper the first division back from A is marked 0, the third 4 and the fifth 8, these figures indicating degrees movement of the distributor head.

This request is extremely urgent as we wish to standardise the 7 - 1 pistons, but have found it impracticable unless the vernier control is also available, owing to the increased tendency to detonate with different fuels.

The limits for the governor curve, as originally given by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} on 4..38. are correct for the 7 - 1 pistons. The vernier should be set on the 0 mark and the ignition timed T.D.C.
