X5840 To BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG5.10.25. 20 HP. 'INDIA' 10,000 MILES TEST. 45980 The oil used on the 20 HP. car was Wakefields 'XL' Castrol. During the period of tests in France we have carried out tests with several brands of oil :- Prices - Duckhams - and Wakefields. We have found that Wakefields 'XL', both from anaylsis and by use, is equivalent to Prices. Prices oils are not obtainable in France. We can obtain Wakefields oil in France. It was for this reason that we were using Wakefields. The lubrication of the car was carried out according to the Instruction Book except for one item :- Lubrication of Propeller shaft joints. These were oiled every 1,000 miles instead of every 500 miles as recommended in the Instruction Book. Also the amount of oil forced into the joints was reduced. When this is carried out it reduces the amount of oil flung out from these joints which has been the cause of complaint. This information has been passed on for future 20 HP. Instruction Books.
