10,000 MILES TEST 9-G-111. X5770

With reference to BJ18/H18.11.25. The following is a list of modifications which are going through for the 20 HP. It can be assumed that any points not mentioned on this list are not receiving attention.

(1) Front and rear springs.

We have today received sets of these springs from Messrs. Lemoine, Paris.

(2) Front shock absorbers.

Modifications are in hand so that the load on the front shock absorbers can be increased and for them still to remain reliable.

(3) Steering box and steering complaints.

We have received from WW. a new steering for the 20 HP. which follows closely the lines of the new steering for the Phantom. This new steering should overcome the complaints of the failure of the steering box support and will reduce the shocks on the steering wheel.

(4) Servo jaggers and servo rattles.

All the production India cars were modified so as to prevent rattles occurring in the servo drive. As regards jaggers from the servo, experiments are in hand to overcome these. We have not had a complaint of servo jaggers on the 20 HP. production cars.

(5) Brakes squeaking.

Improved dampers are now being fitted to all cars. Although we do not anticipate these will entirely eliminate squeaks, we are certain that they will reduce them to a marked degree.

(6) Whistle from carburetter.

This was caused by a sharp edge on the diaphragm of the air valve. These are all now being rounded off to prevent this happening.
