X8794 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from BJ. 10-EX. Blue Semi-Sports BJ7/E29/11/26 Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Car. With reference to R1/M26/11/26, I received this after I had replied to your memorandum of last week. It certainly seems desirable for us to do anything which is essential to assist you in developing the power and speed of the standard Phantom. Also we are in favour of assisting Mr.Nutt to produce a body which will increase the speed of the standard Phantom. We can then ascertain whether there is any sale for such cars with the standard Phantom chassis. We are not in favour of giving our customers a special fast chassis which will be different from our standard as we do not consider the extra work of designing and testing anything which is solely for obtaining very high speeds such as 100 miles an hour is necessary from a selling point of view. If it is necessary with a view to obtaining information of how we can increase the speed and acceleration of our standard chassis, this is very desirable. To give any time, thought or energy to developing a special chassis, which will travel at 100 MPH, is not desirable from a selling point of view. BJ. | ||
