TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M13.4.26. [Handwritten notes:] Y3900 [crossed out] X8410 [crossed out] X9410 Y2628 re. SUSPENSION. Referring to Mr. Nadin's note of the 9th inst., re. the suspension tests in Derby, I am not entirely in agreement with the impression that this conveys, and I also think that you are not entirely in agreement either. The impression I got was that the riding of the pre-'U' series Silver Ghost was only a little better than the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I when the latter had been made as good as possible. Unfortunately I did not have my run in the back seat of the Silver Ghost, over the test stretch of road, until after Messrs Nadin, Fuller, and Brewster, had gone, and the impression gained over the bad roads was by no means as bad as that over the test road. I am not however taking any action at the moment unless you think that we should do so, in which case I shall be pleased to support you if you wish.
