oy Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW. 31st July, 1934. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley Esq., The Cadillac Motor Car Co., Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Dear Olley, The Cadillac has finally arrived, we are letting London try it before we have it here. Rumours reach us that it is meeting with their complete approval. There was some difficulty about sending it over on a Triptyque and in consequence it was finally decided to order it in the ordinary way. This means that the Cadillac people might have got into trouble from Lendrum & Hartman for not notifying them of the sale. As a matter of fact we told them what had happened and they were very cross to think that a car was coming into the country for which they were Agents and they were not getting a 'rake-off'. We think their anger was more on a financial basis than a moral basis and in consequence we have volunteered to pay them anything they want. Therefore if they write to Cadillacs and try to stir up mud you can reply shortly that you know they have nothing to grouse about. They were being equally stupid about the Buick, so we have decided as soon as we have tried one that we shall get one through them. Whether therefore they take delivery of the one you reserved for me or not is up to them. As soon as we have tried the Cadillac I will write you again. | ||
